Obama and McCain on "Southpark"

Elmo: I’ve always been a big fan of Southpark. On Wednesday the latest episode was aired and guess what?! Barack Obama and John McCain were the topic. Just a few more words about the episode: It won’t quite happen what you might expect. I was laughing a lot. You must watch this for sure.

Elmo: One day till the world will know if Barack Obama aka “Mr. Change” or John McCain aka “The Plumber” will be the next President of the United States of America.
A lot of artist have contributed to either campaign and one of the best contributes from the music industry is a joint called “Change gone come” by Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth and B.O.B. It isn’t exactly a song about politics but rather about change in general.

Check it: Change gone come

Presidential Election: Two Day Countdown

Presidential Election

Elmo: The presidential election is just two days away and the race might be closer than one expected. The polls aren’t all clear. Some see Obama ahead by only a few points other predict a huge margin between him and John McCain.
From my feelings Barack Obama should be the clear winner but back in 2000 most people didn’t see George W. Bush ahead either.
On Nov. 4th we all will know more. I will be certainly awake this Tuesday and watch the election.

To my friends overseas, do yourself a favor and go out and vote.

John McCain won!

John McCain

Elmo: John McCain won the election against Barack Obama by a single vote. And who’s fault is that? Elvis! That’s the story line of a very funny video published by Moveon.Org. See what happens if John McCain really wins. (lol)

How Europe would vote

Barack Obama

Elmo: I found this interesting poll website called Europe Votes a couple of weeks ago. If you want to know if either Barack Obama or John McCain would win the presidential elections in Europe, you will find all your answer there.
By the way, Senator Obama is leading huge in Europe (lol)

Colin Powell supports Barack Obama

Colin Powell supports Barack Obama

Elmo: By now I’m almost a 100% sure that Barack Obama will not loose the race for The White House against John McCain. Everything is speaking in his favor, from the newspapers, to over 100.000 people in St. Louis and now even former foreign Secretary Colin Powell. The Republican who served as head commander of the foreign ministry under George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005 as officially announced that he will vote for Senator Obama in the upcoming presidential election on Nov. 4th.

Can it get worse for John McCain?

Presidential Debate aftermath: It’s over!?

Elmo: After watching last nights debate I came to the conclusion that John McCain is finally done. I don’t see how he possibly could turn the election in his favor. Last nights debate was probably his strongest performance but after seeing the first polls he was still way behind Barack Obama. All in all the debate was more intense and aggressive than the first two.
The first half hour was, IMO, the most interesting. Asked by host Bob Schieffer about their plans to resurrect the economy John McCain started of very aggressive and addressed “That One” aka Barack Obama with the issue of “Joe the Plumber”. McCain tried hard to convince the voters that Obama is raising taxes for small businesses. Obama on the other hand tried to lure the audience into thinking that the Arizona Senator is another George W. Bush. Other topics last night included negative campaigning, the vice president nominees and abortion.

Conclusion: In not one of the three debates between the two opponents John McCain was able to make an big impact into his favor. Barack Obama stayed calm and cool through out the debates and increased his margin over McCain bit by bit.

“Joe the Plumber”:

Presidential Debate Pt. 4: Last Chance for McCain

Photobucket

Elmo: We have come to the final debate in this years presidential election and it appears that this will be the last chance for John McCain to “change” the election to his favor. Looking at the daily polls these days it almost seems like that the race to The White House is already over. McCain is trailing Barack Obama by almost 10%.
Tonight’s debate at Hofstra University in New York is, as mentioned above, probably the last shot for the Arizona Senator and the topics aren’t in his favor either. Host Bob Schieffer form CBS News will be asking the candidates about domestic and economic policy. Obama should be a slight favorite referring to the themes.
Tomorrow we all will know a little bit more about the likely outcome of Nov. 4th election.

The debate will start at 9:00 P.M. as usual.

Come trough tomorrow for some updates.

Presidential Debate Pt. 3: It’s A Tie

Elmo: …or maybe not. After waking up at 3:00 A.M., due to the fact that I live in Germany, to watch a, at least IMO, boring debate I came to the conclusion that Barack Obama held of John McCain ones again. Obama tried to convince the viewers that McCain will just be another George W. Bush as far as his politics goes. McCain on the other hand tried to show off that “The One”, I will come back to that phrase later on, is not ready to lead the country.

At the end both of them defended their political positions without making a major shift in either way. McCain wasn’t able to get the awfully desired “game changer” and can therefore be considert as the looser.
It seems like that I do not stand alone with my opinion since almost all polls see Senator Obama ahead of McCain. To get an impression check CNN.com.

Actually I thought that the townhall-meeting-style would contribute to a more open discussion with the audience but I was widely disappointed. There were only 7 questions and the questioners weren’t allowed to take a second hit at the candidates.
The most notable moment of last nights debate is with out any doubt John McCain’s referrence to Barack Obama as “The One”.

Presidential Debate Part 3: The Townhall-Meeting

Photobucket

Elmo: And we are at it again. Tonight will be the third presidential TV debate. After the vice-presidential debate last Thursday we are back with the Democrats Barack Obama against the GOP’s John McCain. What’s special about tonight’s debate is the format. It won’t be a traditional debate as we have seen in the last two but a format called Townhall-Meeting. The audition and the viewers can ask the candidates questions, this means there will be some kind of interactivity.
Barack Obama is a slight favorite due to his outstanding rhetoric repertoire but as I heard Senator McCain is really good at this style of debate.
Place of happening will be Nashville, Tennessee. The host is NBC’s Tom Brokaw and tip off will be 3:00 P.M.

Stay tuned for the traditional wrap up tomorrow.
