Elmo: Ok, let’s get this started. About a month ago, I ordered a tailor made suit in a dark brown colorway. This Monday I will be able to pick it up.
Now you might ask why is he writing this post. Doesn’t it say “shoes” in the header? That’s right. After choosing my desired suit color I started looking for the right pair of shoes to match my suit. The process about deciding what kind of shoe to get isn’t quite easy.
I just throw in a few question I asked myself on the course of making a decision.
1. Real dress shoes or a pair you might can throw on with jeans?
2. Round, squared toe or the golden middel?
3. Extraordinary stitching or no stitching?
4. Dark brown or light brown or something in the middle?
5. Soft leather or a harder kind?
And that’s just the beginning. It ain’t easy without having the suite with me or at least a piece of the fabric.
To make my decision easier I tried to narrow down my demands for a perfect pair.
That’s what I came up with:
1. Round toe or at least something in the middle. The classic Oxford or Derby look is what comes the closest I guess.
2. Lighter but not to light brown.
3. Shoes must be comfortable, leather should be rather soft than hard.
4. No extraordinary stitching.
5. Would be nice to if I could wear them to something else than just the suit but no must.
The next step for me was trying to choose a few brands which where meeting the “requirements” and my cash funds. $250 was/is the maximum.
After doing some research these are the brands I came up with:
1. Lloyd – A German shoe manufacture founded in 1888 known for producing a wide area of quality shoes.
2. Clarks – Well known British label. Famous now a days for their “Wallabees” and “Desert Boots” but the make some nice, and affordable dress shoes as well.
3. Johnston & Murphy – Shoes are looking nice too but are not available in Germany at all.
4. ? – I’m open for any suggestions.
After that I still found myself looking at a whole lot of different shoes to choose from. Most of them are even available two or three color tones. But as I do love surfing the net and running through stores this was the fun part.
I selected 5 different model’s and hopefully one will meet my expectations and most importantly will fit my suit.
1. Lloyd Hamlet (Calf Leather, 120,00 Euro)

2. Lloyd Gloster (Calf Leather, 130 Euro)

3. Lloyd Lome (Calf Leather, 130 Euro)

5. Clarks Finton Jump (Tan Leather, 64,99 British Pound)

5. Johnston & Murphy Gaffey (Calf Leather, $124)

Elmo: First sorry for the lack of postings lately. I’ve been working real hard on my major thesis and I’m almost done. After that there will be more posting and writing from my side. I’ll also try to bring more depth into this whole Blog. Meaning more own thoughts, pictures and so on. We’ll try to mix this thing up a bit.
Getting this of my chest, we’ll get back to my favorite topic lately Photography. While surfing through the world wide web I found a young photography from Germany. Oermserjung is the nickname he goes by and I guess I’ll let his pictures speak for him.
Also check his flickr.
On a sidenote, I’ll be meeting with my partner in crime William tonight. Let’s see what that will bring to the table.
Stay tuned.

William: As if I’d never been gone, here’s the latest edition of “Artist Spotlight”.
Usually I’m not big on electronic music. Usually not at all to be honest, but this time I’ll make an exception and this Canadian group called Thunderheist is worth it. Maybe you already know them, if not, now you do. Thunderheist is a musical tag team consisting of frontwoman Isis and soundsmith Graham. If you want to know more about them click here and here. The video above is my fave track from them inspired by Dead Prez.

Elmo: It seems like I have fallen in love with flowers this summer. Bright colors always get me to take my camera out. Pictures were made just outside of my crib.
Enjoy

William: A few months ago you could’ve still called me a sneaker fetishist. I own close to a hundred pairs of sneakers (yea, I know it ain’t actually that much, sigh), most of them Nike’s and Jordan’s (which is kind of the same) and the majority of my kicks are basketball related. There’s been a time where I had to buy the newest Jordan’s, no really, I had to. Times change, my style has changed and along with that I’ve overcome my addiction for fresh sole. There are moments I feel the relapse of course but those are lesser and lesser. Reason is, most of the kicks released in recent time are f***in’ ugly. Yea, I said it, excuse me if my polemic criticism bores you. It has all been said before, I know, but have you actually seen what Nike and Brand Jordan have been putting out recently? They are virtually challenging true sneaker enthusiast not fall in a deep depression caused by disgust. Take a look at this. Need I say more? Okay, one more. How about that? Oh well, just hit up your regular sneaker blog and for your sake, I really hope you agree with me.

Elmo: Do you know the feeling when you are listing to a song and certainly a memory connected to that specific track pops up on your mind? I’m loving that, most of the times it’s something positive and it make me feel great.
Justin Timberlake’s “What Goes Around” just does that for me. Every time I listen to the track I’m vibing to the beat and a lot of memories from a few years back reach my mind.I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I do.
